Rev. Jesse Jackson again visits Occupy Philly

Rev. Jesse JacksonThe Rev. Jesse Jackson again visited Occupy Philly this weekend. He could be seen walking around the camp, speaking with members of the Occupy movement and specifically with members of the Interfaith Working Group.

While he had a large group following him as he walked, other members of the Occupy camp felt more ambivalent about his presence. At least one member said although he did not necessarily know the Reverend’s intentions for visiting, he felt like the movement needed more than just a presence.

When I asked him to elaborate, he spoke freely that we need action from leaders like Jackson. The types of actions mentioned ranged from speaking candidly with Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, or participating in direct actions.
